Clase Azul Tequila Dia de Muertos 2023 is the latest edition of the annual series that honors the Mexican tradition of Day of the Dead. It is an añejo tequila that was aged for 25 months in American whiskey barrels and finished in Armagnac casks from France. The bottle is decorated with a marigold glaze and a 24-karat gold ornament that features cempasúchil petals, the iconic flower of the celebration. The back of the bottle has a beautiful illustration by Mexican artist Jimena Estíbaliz that depicts a scene of people harvesting cempasúchil flowers with xoloitzcuintles, the mythical dogs that guide the souls to the afterlife. Only 3,500 bottles were made available worldwide. This edition is a tribute to the aromas and memories that are evoked by the Day of the Dead, such as the cempasúchil flowers, the copal incense, the sweet dishes, and the fruits and spices. The tequila has notes of peach, walnut, clove, and cacao, with a cinnamon finish. It is best enjoyed neat or on the rocks, with a slice of citrus fruit or paired with chocolate, cheese, or spicy food.
